The Role

The Enterprise Business Systems Architect will lead the vision and architecture of the enterprise technology that supports ITHAKA’s business. This is a highly visible role, strategic to the business, with significant impact across ITHAKA’s business operations.

The Enterprise Business Systems Architect will work with several functions across the organization (Engineers, Business Analysts, Product Managers, etc.) and internal business stakeholders to ensure a seamless, secure, and scalable Enterprise Business Technology. You will drive identification, evaluation, and adoption of new technology solutions to enable innovation as business needs emerge.


  • Be the guiding voice for technology across enterprise business systems, ensuring a cohesive architecture supporting complex B2B workflows.
  • Drive change within the organization, working with teams to evolve our systems and logical architecture.
  • Develop technical roadmaps and architectures in close partnership with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Data Analysts, Engineers and business leaders.
  • Look ahead to consider the long-term consequences for the organization when choosing a technical direction, proposing a technological investment, presenting simplification opportunities or advising a business leader on strategic issues.
  • Influence executive leadership by clearly communicating the value to the organization of proposed technical directions or technological investments.
  • Lead the development of a reference architecture which establishes design patterns and standards that guide the evaluation and selection of enabling technology for business systems.
  • Maintain consistency of architectural principles across systems and applications, setting strategies, policies, standards, and practices including scalability, maintainability, reliability, extensibility, usability, and security.
  • Provide mentorship to Engineers/Architects to ensure technical solution designs are well-architected and implemented according to principles and standards.
  • Provide a critical analysis and recommendation for build, buy, and partner investments.
  • Coach the teams, understanding when it is in our best interest to take on technical debt while ensuring that we have the time and resources to retire technical debt.

Experience and Skills

  • 10+ years of industry experience including experience with enterprise SaaS business systems in the Lead -> Cash space (Marketing, CRM, CPQ, Billing, ERP, HRMS, Legal, Service), Data/BI platforms, cloud architecture, systems integration in global organization.
  • 5+ years of experience in Solutions Architecture and/or Enterprise Systems Architecture
  • Possesses effective communication and influential skills, especially with executive leadership
  • Experience with complex CRM implementations supporting Sales, Marketing, and Service/Support
  • Experience with complex CPQ/Billing implementations supporting Sales, Finance, and Service/Support
  • Experience with complex customer service implementations supporting Service/Support
  • Experience with complex Financial/ERP system implementations supporting Finance
  • Strong ability to conduct research about how to use products to solve our problems
  • Knowledge of systems and data integration platforms / iPaaS (i.e. Boomi, MuleSoft, etc.)
  • Experience leading architecture and development projects across business areas and technologies: has a well-rounded background in enterprise applications, software development, databases, middleware, etc.
  • Experience in design of future-state architecture/systems
  • Good understanding of the architectural principles of cloud-based platforms, software development, integration, and information security
  • Knowledge of and experience with development of APIs, microservice architectures, and application containerization a plus
  • Experience with Service Management platforms
  • Experience with CI/CD and DevOps in business systems development
  • Experience with EAM tools and meta modeling techniques
