New form submission in Hubspot returns last selected item for multiselect

As per title. In my recipe, I am using the New form submission trigger of HubSpot. But for "Multiple checkboxes" type question, it returns only the last selected item. Yet when I use the get records action the related property from the contact that submitted the form, it is correctly returned as a semicolon-separated string of all the items selected. When I view the contact's submission inside HubSpot it shows all selected values separated by a comma (a bit weird, but I guess this is for a better readability).

Am I missing something, or is this a bug with this trigger?

Though I have never worked with Hubspot, I did want to see if you had tried using the “Get Records” action immediately after the trigger to see if it consistently provides the complete checkbox data?

If yes, then you might try to identify which API or functionality trigger might be using internally, that might have some clue.

But, you shoul try to ask this question to Workato support via chat, they might have better answers and suggestion.

As I already mentioned in my post, yes, using the Get Records action gives all the selected items.

Hi @MateuszKalamarz , thanks for the confirmation, but in the post you did not mentioned immediately after the trigger, what i asked was to use get record immediately after the trigger. Hope you find a difference.

Hi @MateuszKalamarz I reviewed your scenario. When we use a Form submission as a trigger in Workato, due to platform limitations or default behavior, it usually returns only the most recently updated value. To handle this, I created a multiple checkbox field in the Contacts module (named "test") in HubSpot. Then, in the HubSpot Search action, I applied a filter using the email ID from the form submission. This helped retrieve multiple matching records (instead of just the latest one). In your case, you can use a similar approach by selecting a unique value (like email or submission ID) as the filter condition to fetch the correct data.

This usually happens because HubSpot stores the latest value in the contact property, and depending on how the form data is passed, multiselect fields can sometimes overwrite instead of append — which results in only the last selected item being returned.

If you're submitting the form from outside HubSpot (for example, from a WordPress site), the way the data is sent to HubSpot’s API also matters. In those cases, using something that gives you control over how the payload is structured can help. For example, tools like Contact Form to Any API let you send the full multiselect array properly formatted to HubSpot’s endpoint instead of relying on default field mapping.

That way you can ensure all selected values are passed correctly instead of just the last one.
