- What is this package?
It is a sample Workflow App that has a dashboard page to display the ROI metrics based on actual execution data, as well as an ROI Dataset table to supply ROI metadata (such as which recipes save which amount of hours/dollars for which process) - How does it work? Once you have Insights enabled in your Workspace:
- Install the package into your workspace (create a new project e.g. “[App] ROI Dashboard,” and import it there).
- Open the ROI Metadata table and edit based on SME estimates. For every recipe that is finalising the business impact (e.g. completes some business process), create a row in a table with:
- Recipe ID.
- Department, Use case. You can also use any custom metadata.
- Hours saved per run (i.e. successful job) of this recipe.
- Dollars (or other currency) saved per run. This step is essential to get right! If you input unrealistic data, you will get unrealistic ROI.
- The ROI Dashboard page should automatically pick up the values. Verify for correctness and make any visual changes you wish. You can view this page right in Workato.
- (Optional) Set up the Apps portal and go live with this app. You should now see the dashboard in the Apps portal.
- New Insights dashboard in Workato
A new Insights interface - Dashboards in Workato are now available! This allows automation teams to analyze and quantify the impact of automation without leaving our UI. This also decouples Apps and Insights; you don’t have to create an App or have it in the subscription to see the dashboards. Still, dashboards in Apps will be fully supported going forward, as they are more relevant for specific use cases and provide a way to see the dashboards without Workato login.
A New Platform -> Insights menu item is now available!

More new SAP Enhancements!
- OData V4 Support in SAP OData Connector
Our SAP OData Connector now supports
OData V4, the latest version of SAP’s OData services. This enhancement means we support the below set of APIs delivered OOTB by SAP along with the custom OData V4 services across SAP Business Suite applications (SAP CRM, SRM, ECC, etc) as well:
OData v4 is gaining significant traction in the tech industry due to its enhanced capabilities and modern features, which include better performance, advanced query capabilities, and more efficient data handling.
Stay tuned as more to come on this!!
- Populate fields for any SAP table queried by "Call RFC" action
We are happy to announce another enhancement to our SAP RFC Connector: the ability to automatically populate fields for any SAP table queried by the "Call RFC" action when using RFM RFC_READ_TABLE.
SAP customers frequently use the RFC_READ_TABLE function module through "Call RFC" action in our SAP RFC connector for external integration. This is due to its ability to provide direct and efficient access to SAP table data without requiring complex development. It's beneficial when no APIs (BAPI/IDoc/OData) can read master or transactional data. This function module simplifies integration by offering a straightforward interface for data retrieval, making it versatile for various use cases.
With the introduction of this feature, the SAP team is less dependent on knowing the technical field names for any SAP table, which previously required manual effort and cross-team collaboration. Sometimes, it also eliminates the additional step/task in the recipe of manually fetching field names in the first call.
Platform Ops' latest releases
You may have seen fresh new changes in the platform! Here is an update so you are not surprised when you visit your Workspace.
Workspace settings—New permission is available for custom roles. Today, only admin system roles and account owners can access some of the WS settings sections. Now, we have exposed this permission, which can be added to collaborators by custom roles. There is no change to existing roles. Customers need to actively go in and add it.
This gives access to:
- General
- Subscription plan
- Notifications
- Deployments:
Several UX and UI changes are coming up in this area of Deployments. Now live in production, we have the following new UI:
- Deployment history tab—This tab within a project has a new look and feel, with new icons and texts. It does not have new functionality; it just looks better.
- Deployment detailed page—This is a new page! Until now, clicking on a deployment item in the Deployment history tab would open a popup window with the deployment details. Instead of the popup, a page will open with the details. It has the same functionality but a different look and feel.
- Navigation bar (left side menu):
In preparation for Insights GA, we update the icon and name of the operations dashboard section. It is now called Operations Hub. There has been no functionality change; it opens the same tabs for the Dashboard, Dependency graph and Audit logs.
